Training on women's rights
Aim for human rights regularly runs trainings on women’s rights for organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. These trainings are interactive and tailored to the needs of the organisation. The training focuses on the manner in which women’s rights can be used within the organisation’s work. Aim for human rights develops methods that enable organisations to examine, evaluate and influence the implementation of women’s human rights in their countries. Our methods provide our partners with stronger arguments to lobby for the implementation of women’s rights in their country. Our trainings often serve to introduce our tools to partner organisations.
Examples of trainings
See below for two examples of our work. For more examples and more extensive reports of our trainings, click here.
Kenya
Aim for human rights gave a training to a group of organisations in Kenya in cooperation with FIDA-Kenya. The various UN-mechanisms the organisations could use in their advocacy work were discussed. Afterwards, the participants analysed the Kenyan policy on female genital mutilation (FGM). The results of the workshop can be used to strengthen the organisations’ national and international lobbying efforts.
Macedonia
In Macedonia, Aim for human rights ran a training for the Shelter Center for Women’s Rights. After comparing national policy and jurisdiction on domestic violence in Macedonia, the surrounding Balkan-states and the Netherlands, the participants issued recommendations for the improvement of the policy on domestic violence in Macedonia.
