The new name of HOM is Aim for human rights!
Aim for human rights supports organisations which fight for human rights all over the world. Local organisations are often the first to notice that human rights are violated and start to act. Aim for human rights helps these organisations. We do so via trainings, knowledge transfers and sometimes financial aid. This enables our partner organisations to do more for the human rights in their community.
Aim for human rights concentrates on the following themes:
- Women’s human rights
- Human rights and business
- Enforced disappearances
- Human rights in European policy
- Human rights impact assessment (HRIA)

August 30 2008: Global Action against enforced disappearances
On August 30 the families of victims of disappearances all over the world organise events to commemorate their missing loved ones. On this day, the International Coalition against Enforced Disappearances (ICAED), of which Aim for human rights is focal point, calls on governments to sign and ratify the UN Convention against disappearances. An appeal letter signed by renowned personalities, such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, will be send to all heads of states. Accompanying the appeal is the photo publication 'Existence Denied', bearing witness to the emotional effects of disappearances.
