UN committee starts assessment of Dutch compliance with CEDAW

In the fall of 2008, the Dutch government submitted it’s fifth national report to the CEDAW committee. The CEDAW, (United Nations Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination of Women), committee is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the treaty obligations by the member states.

On February 9, 2009, the CEDAW committee holds a pre session meeting in Geneva, to investigate what additional information it wants to get from the Dutch government. Two members of the Netwerk VN-vrouwenverdrag, of which Aim for human rights is an active member, will attend this pre session to represent the Dutch NGO findings and questions. They will share their experiences on the blog http://cedawschaduwrapportage.blogspot.com/ (Dutch).
