Launch campaign Convention against Disappearances

On September 26 2007 the International Coalition against Enforced Disappearances (ICAED) launched a campaign for the ‘Convention to Protect all Persons from Enforced Disappearances’ during a Human Rights Council session in Geneva. In the presence of numerous family members of disappeared, representatives of NGOs and delegates from several countries, the Human Rights Council president and Ambassadors from all continents confirmed the importance of the Convention and the need for rapid ratification and full implementation. Families of disappeared shared their personal stories and showed their dedication to continue their work for a world where people are better protected from this crime.

Aim for human rights is a member and focal point of the International Coalition against Enforced Disappearances (ICAED). The ICAED gathers families of the disappeared together with (international) human rights NGOs from all over the world. They join efforts in a campaign to reach the widespread ratification leading towards full and effective implementation of the Disappearances Convention at the earliest possible date.
