Human Rights and Business project South Africa starts cooperation with Fairfood
The Human Rights and Business project in South Africa, set up in 2006 by Aim for human rights and others, has started a collaboration with Fairfood International. The project partners are joined in a network of South African organisations and companies, all working towards business, sustainability and human rights.
By collaborating with the network, Fairfood expects to gain more insight into good practices in amongst others the fruit exporting business. The objective is to exchange information on problems and violations in food production in South Africa and other African countries.
In 2008 partner organisation African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) took over coordinating the Human Rights and Business project South Africa from Aim for human rights. Early 2009 Aim for human rights started a similar project in Tanzania. The goal is to increase both attention and compliance to human rights in businesses in this country as well.
