Public lecture by Thomas Hammarberg: 'Making reality of human rights norms'
Thomas Hammarberg, the Council of Europe's Human Rights Commissioner, will conduct an official visit to the Netherlands from September 21 until 26 to assess the human rights situation in the country. On Thursday evening, September 25 at 19:30 at De Balie, he will give his only public lecture titled 'Making reality of human rights norms'. After his lecture he looks forward to enter into dialogue with the audience on pressing human rights issues in the Netherlands.
Over the past 25 years, Mr Hammarberg has published widely on various human rights issues, particularly on children's rights, refugee policy, minority issues, xenophobia, Roma rights as well as international affairs and security. He is also well known for his <personname w:st="on">pr</personname>esentations and lectures on human rights at various governmental and academic institutions.
