About us
Organisation
Aim for human rights is an independent Dutch NGO, registered as a foundation. Aim for human rights is based in the city centre of Utrecht. The office has six departments: five thematic programmes and one support department.
Humanist background
Aim for human rights was founded by three Dutch humanist organisations (Humanitas, Hivos and the Humanistische Verbond) in 1981. Its roots therefore lie in the humanist movement. Until October 2007 Aim for human rights was known as the Humanist Committee for Human Rights (HOM). The change in name does not, however imply a chance in our point of view. The mission and activities of Aim for human rights remain based on humanist values such as freedom, equality and human dignity.
